Janice Y. Sommerville

Janice Y. Sommerville was born on September 14, 1955, to Joe T. and Jeanette Sykes in Beckley, West Virginia.

Janice grew up most of her life in Akron, attending Akron Public School. She met and married the love of her life, Donald on Thanksgiving Day, from that day forward they were inseparable, even working together at Daimler Chrysler. Janice retired from Chrysler after working there for 30 years. She enjoyed most of all shopping, shopping, shopping! Cooking was a passion of hers for every occasion. Janice was a loving wife as well as a wonderful loving mother. She also loved her grandchildren, family and friends. She was a member of Kingdom Vision Faith Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald of 45 years; parents, Joe and Jeanette Sykes; sister, Donna Evans and her maternal and paternal grandparents.

Leaving to cherish her memory are her one and only daughter, Andrea Sommerville and grandchildren, Keith Sommerville and Marquis Lester; great grandchildren, Ava and Amiyla; god daughter, Jaleah Henderson all of Akron; sisters, Hyloka “Sandy” (Otho) Bowe and Jonetta McClain; brothers, Joe T. Jr. (Sally) Sykes and Drake Breckenridge of Columbus, Oh and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Friday, August 6, 2021 from 11:00 am until 12:00 noon at Sommerville Funeral Services, 1695 Diagonal Rd. Akron, Oh 44320. Funeral service will immediately follow.
