Da’Viaun De’Shaun Pete, 20, of Akron, died suddenly on Sunday, November 1, 2020. He was born May 1, 2000 in Akron, Ohio, the son of Paula Pete and Karel Smith. He attended Archbishop Hoban High School, where he graduated May 2018. He first achieved high academic status and was a defensive tackle and a defensive end with Archbishop Hoban High School Football Team.
Da’Viaun saw them through three State of Ohio Football Championships and dabbled in basketball and baseball. He was currently enrolled as a junior at The University of Toledo majoring in Sport Psychology and making the Dean’s List all four semesters.
Da’Viaun was a member of Junior & Senior Student Council and was a Senior Class Representative at Hoban. He also spent time volunteering at Sarah’s House Inc. – Food Pantry for three years of his young life. He and his sister practiced karate. He often attended House of the Lord with his grandparents Jeff and Shelia Smith, and girlfriend MiChel.
Da’Viaun is survived by his parents Paula Pete and Karel Smith, his brother Stefan Brooks, Dominique Pete, Breana Finney, KJ Smith, Karmyn Smith, and Jhalen Smith. His brother, D’Andre Pete, grandparents Preston and Lola Pete, great-grandparents Betty and Edward Smith, and great-grandparents Hazel and Lucille Kelly preceded him in death. He also leaves his maternal grandmother, Dorothy Colbert-Collins, and his step-grandfather John Collins, his paternal grandparents, Jeff and Sheila Smith, both of Akron, Ohio. He is also survived by his girlfriend, MiChel Poulson, his stepmother Tanya Smith, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
