Frederick W. Hawkins Obituary | Flower Test Order Frederick W. Hawkins - Flower Test Order

Frederick W. Hawkins

September 27, 1953 – October 26, 2025

On September 27th, 1953, Fredrick Wayne Hawkins, affectionately known as “Waynie,” was born to the union of Dazzle Hawkins Jr. and Catherine Odessa Hudson (Hawkins) Osley. Wayne passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at the age of 72, with his loving wife, Patricia, by his side.

Waynie, a lifelong resident of Alliance, Ohio, attended Franklin Elementary, B.F. Stanton Middle School, and Alliance High School, graduating with the class of 1971.

If you knew Waynie, you knew he loved to roller skate — it’s how he met his wife, Patricia, at Champion Rollerena. He also enjoyed shopping and spent time traveling to different stores looking for unique suits, which he was always known for. He and Patricia often spent weekends shopping together to find coordinated outfits. Waynie also loved jazz concerts, hand dancing, and took pride in washing and detailing his cars.

Waynie enjoyed singing and joined his Big Brother Dazzle in The Bel Airs in 1974. He loved to play softball with local teams, as well as in the Chrysler Softball League, traveling to different tournaments.

Mostly, he enjoyed family get-togethers where he would play his favorite card game, Bid Wiz. He loved to play Connect Four with the kids, singing the tune of Ini Kamoze’s “Here Comes the Hotstepper” — teasing the kids by saying, “Burn it up!” when he was about to drop the winning chip, which he often did.

Waynie leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 48 years, Patricia A. Hawkins; his children, Jameela (Quintin) Jones, Zakiya (Jerrell) Hawkins-Martin, Jibreel (Lisa) Hawkins, and Jaleel Hawkins; Godson Cedric Washington; and his cherished grandchildren, Jibreel Hawkins Jr., Jerrell Martin Jr., Shaylia Hawkins, Jaleel Hawkins Jr., Jalei Hawkins, Jereem Martin, Kameron Hawkins, Jrei Hawkins, and great-granddaughter Ny’liah Kent.

He is also survived by his siblings Dazzle (Vivian), Bruce Hawkins, Cynthia (Hawkins) Conley, Savannah (Ernest) Dobbins, Denise Starks, Danny Osley, Madeline (Larry) Brown, Madoris McClung, and James (Earline) Hawkins, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends.

He was preceded in death by Dazzle Hawkins Jr., Catherine Odessa Hudson (Hawkins) Osley, Edward Osley Sr., Edward Osley Jr., Curtis Osley, Mattie Hawkins, Dazzle Hawkins Sr., Rosa Lee Hudson, Fred Hudson, Emma Jean Mitchell, Lela McInnis, Fred Hawkins, Julius Hawkins, Dazzle “Brucie” Hawkins IV, and Derek DePrill.

He also leaves behind a host of extended family and dear friends who will miss him dearly.

Funeral service will be held at 12 noon on November 7, 2025 at New Zion Baptist Church, 1135 E. Jersey St. Alliance, Ohio. Friends may call at the church one hour prior.
