James A. “Jimmy” Lightner

May 21, 1943 – December 31, 2019

James A. “Jimmy” Lightner transitioned this life on December 31, 2019 at his home, surrounded by his loved ones. Born May 21, 1943 to the late Rosalie R. Lightner and Henry Gilliam. Jimmy was a lifelong resident of Alliance, Ohio. At the age of thirteen he worked for his uncle Walter Lightner’s Salvage Company. Upon Graduating from Alliance High School in 1963 he enlisted in the U.S. Army.

Returning to Alliance after serving our country Jimmy worked at the Crane Company, Columbia Gas Co. and General Motors where he retired after 38 years. After retirement he also worked briefly at Walmart. He was member of Triumph The Church And Kingdom Of God In Christ where he served as the church organist for many years and a member of Brothers of The Hammer MC. Jimmy enjoyed music, traveling, old cars, car shows, talking to people and making them laugh.

Preceding him is death was his parents, stepfather Walter Drue, son Shaun Lightner, sister Lisha D. Drue and brother Julius Gilliam.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Olevia J. Lightner; sons, James M. (Kimberly) Lightner of Seattle, WA, Dahshenne T. (Nicky) Saunders of Youngstown, OH, Anthony D. (Brandy) Saunders of Memphis, TN, and Scott L. Saunders of CA; daughters, Jamie S. Lightner of Canton, OH, Kesha S. Sounders of Alliance, OH, Andrea D. Lightner, of Alliance, OH, and Tia L. (David) Ford of Loganville, GA; 27 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; a sister, Constance (Lewis) Lilly; a brother, Edward W. Drue; special friend, Frank Thomas; and a host of other family and friends.
