Joanne Oden

Joanne Oden, 85, of Alliance, departed this life on October 17, 2020 at the St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital. She was born February 26, 1935 in Norton, Virginia to the late William V. and Mary Margaret (Mitchell) Martin Sr.

Joanne retired from Whitacre-Greer and was married to the late Deacon Edward Oden Sr. whom she married on September 28, 1954. She loved her family and was a very giving person. She enjoyed playing the slots, playing her numbers and going on bus trips. In years past she even coordinated trips to The Rivers Casino in Pennsylvania. Joanne just enjoyed having a good time socializing with friends and family. She will be greatly missed.

Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother William V. Martin Jr..

She leaves to cherish her memories her sons, Jerome Martin Sr. and Edward Oden Jr., grandsons, Darone Cherry, Jerrell (Zakiya) Martin Sr., and Jerome “Skye” Martin Jr., 13 great-grandchildren Jarvae Cherry, Destinee Cherry, Crysjawn Waters, Storm Cherry, Dream Cherry, Knight Cherry, Jerrell Martin Jr, Jereem Martin, Queshawn Martin , Ki’errah Martin, Kayla Martin, Jahkai Martin and Makonnen Lambe, one great-great grandchild, siblings, Herman Martin, Margaret R. Jones and Mary E. Hatcher, daughters-in-love, Marshalle Augusta and Deborah Coleman, special friends, Lucille Smith, Fannie Williams, Shelia Cherry and Francie Taylor,
and a host of other relatives and friends.
