Mary “Polly” Parnell Whaley

June 23, 1959 – January 20, 2025

Mary Parnell Whaley also known as Polly was born in Akron, Ohio to Barbara and Thomas Whaley on June 23, 1959.
The third of four children. Being born with Cerebral Palsy Mary stayed with the family home at 1013 Dover Ave until she was hospitalized at Apple Creek State Hospital.

Mary left Apple Creek in 1978, and resided in numerous Group Homes (North Monroe, Vantine House) before she came to reside at the Frank House in March 2002.

Mary resided with her friends at the Frank House until her death on January 20, 2025.
Polly Liked going for rides, shopping at Target, and eating McDonald Hamburgers. She filled her Purse with crayons, books, and bubblegum and sunglasses.
She loved drinking her coffee-tea while watching the Beverly Hillbillies, Gilligan’s Island and Bluey on TV. She loved visits with her family and friends especially the annual birthday parties hosted at the Frank House.

Mary’s friends at the Frank House include, but are not limited to (more than 23 years) House Supervisor Jessica Nottingham, Jon Rorer, Tammy Morrissey, Jennifer Belty, Darsha Gray, Carmelita Wallace Williams, Mary Samuel,Diamond Harrison, Janay Brantley, Candice Brooks, Kathy Goin, Ahley Walker, Christina Suffolk , Leslie Jones, Reneta Pain and especially Katt Goin who spent numerous nights with Mary at the Hospital.

Mary was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Major Whaley Sr; her mother, Barbara Poulson Whaley and her sister, Dolores Michelle Whaley. Upon Delores’s death in July 2020, her nieces, Rebecca and Barbara took guardianship and insured Marys’s well-being.

Mary is survived by her brother, Thomas Major. Whaley Jr (Marina) Leesburg VA, and sister, Lynn Paulette Jeffries of Houston, Texas; cousins, Betty, Charles, John (Anne), and Patsy Thomas; Charles, and Robin (James) Parker, Roderick, Ray, and Vastyne Pettis; Dianza Brongier; Patty, Mark (Candace) and Jon (Angie) Jackson; Greco (Teresa )Battles, Dimitri Harper, Veronica, Patrick, Jocelyn Warren, Scott (Alana) Poulson and Tammy Campbell; John (Francis) and Micheal (Phyllis) Poulson; Emmelia (Doyle) Lewis; nieces and nephews, Rebecca, Barbara, and Homell Calhoun, Matthew and Timothy Gissentaner; Brianna Jeffries; Martinique (Jonas) Costa, Angel (Phil), Blaine (Harris), Thomas III, and Valentina Whaley; numerous friends and family who loved Mary with all their heart.
