Mattie Payne
Mattie M. Payne, born August 20, 1926 in Chattanooga, TN passed away on August 20, 2020.
Mattie is preceded in death by parents, Wyatt and Joy Allen; husband, Roy J. Payne; sons, LeVon Payne and Roy Lee Payne.
She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Barbara “Judi” (Aaron) Williams; loving daughter, Annalisa “Lisa” (David) Anderson; son, Larry Payne; grandchildren, Paris Gray, Royal Hunter, Brandon Gilbert, Gynnise Gilbert, Terrence Payne, Roy James Payne II, LaNee’ Payne, Danielle Smith Payne, Kelly Smith, Jessica Payne; 34 great grandchildren and a host of loving nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Mattie enjoyed life and never new a stranger. She enjoyed music and dancing and loved her family fiercely. She was deeply in love with her husband and he with her. She would often recall many memories of growing up in Chattanooga, TN. She would lovingly recall moments with her husband telling us their song was, “At Last” by Etta James.
She will be deeply missed. Enjoy your heaven Mattie until we meet again!
