Ray Lee Hubbard

September 28, 1951 – June 26, 2025

Ray Lee Hubbard, died in the presence
of his beloved friend, Dorothy J. Jefferson, on June
26, 2025. Ray died from mucus melanoma at Akron
City Hospital (Summa). He was the father of
four children, two of whom, Juanita and Christy,
survive him. Ray Jr. and Dana predeceased him.
Born September 28, 1951 in Dallas to Minnie
and Joe Lee Hubbard (deceased), he was raised
in Oklahoma and has a sister, Shirley Chappelle
of California.

Ray was a gentle loving man and a delightful
friend who knew how to keep cars going even
when they were broken down. He was generous
with his skills as a mechanic, which he studied to
become an expert. He was mechanically minded
his whole life. Even his teachers knew he would
be mechanic. He loved to make things work better.
He loved garage sales, learning about history
and other countries. He was a people person who
knew and enjoyed all of his neighbors. He loved
long rides in the country and working at his own
home. During his early life he did farm work in
Oklahoma. He overcame alcoholism an was a long
time speaker for A.A, He was a country gentleman
who loved people and enjoyed talking with them
and learning about their lives. He loved excursions
and loved Ohio (once he got here).

He leaves cousins, nephews, friends and other
family members to mourn his passing.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service
will be held on August 2, 1 p.m. at Sommerville
Funeral Services, 1695 Diagonal Rd., Akron.
