Calvin “Rooster” Fikes

Calvin “Rooster” Fikes Sr. the 12th child of 15 was born to the late James Sr. and Ella Mae Fikes on April 29, 1936 weighing only 3lbs, 6oz. Calvin passed peacefully on Sunday, November 17, 2019 after a short illness.
He was united in marriage to Janie Long and to this union 3 children were born.
Calvin enjoyed playing card and bingo with his friends at Saferstien Towers I. He also loved practical jokes, dressing up in costumes for Halloween, watching Wheel of Fortune, Family Feud and old black and white western TV shows like The Riffle Man, Big Valley and He loved watching movies while snacking on pretzels, barbeque pork skins and anything chocolate. Calvin loved children and asked frequently about his grandchildren and great grandchildren and playing with trucks and dinosaurs with his great great nephew.
He was preceded in death by Calvin Jr. and Marcus James Fikes; brothers, Harold, Lewis, Baby Fikes, James, Oneal Bobby and Patrick Fikes Sr. and sisters, his twin Catherine at birth, Bettye Pettiford, Hattie Davis, Caroline Gordon, Willowdean Munford and Connie Fikes-Marsh.
Calvin is survived by son, Tony (Christelle) Long of Leander, TX; grandchildren, Tony Jr., Alexandria (Lexi), Angelia, Calvin and Calshaun (Tatiana), Gagni and Marcus Fikes Jr.; great grandchildren, Marcus Fikes III “Trey”, Constantine, Calshaun Jr., Catalina and Celina; special great great nephew, Daiyan and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
