Tatyana Greer

Tatyana Faith Greer (Taty), 27 years old, passed away in Akron, Ohio on Wednesday, July 5th, 2023. Taty was born September 17th, 1995, in Akron, Ohio to the union of Bruce B. Greer and Brenda J. Greer (Ervine). She was the youngest of all her siblings.

Taty was a true Akron native where she resided her whole life. Growing up, she attended Akron Public Schools: Erie Island and Perkins Middle School and later kept the family tradition when she graduated from John R. Buchtel High school in 2017, as a Griffin.
Taty was also actively involved with the YMCA and United Disability Service (UDS), and a member of the Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) community.
Taty was loving, caring, fun, a true comedian; and overall, just full of life. She was known as the “life of the party”, as she had an inner glow that would set off the room upon her entrance.

Taty was never too shy to cut a two-step or dance the night away. She always looked forward to hanging out with dad (Bruce Greer), stepmom (Jeanette Burton), and all her family and friends. Let’s just say that Taty loved to “Kick-It”!

Taty also had a strong passion and love for old school R&B music. Some of her favorite hits were “Not too Proud”, by The Temptations and “I Believe”, by Charlie Wilson (whom she loved and adored). In 2020, Taty even got the chance to see Charlie Wilson live in concert. If Taty wasn’t jamming out to Charlie on her karaoke machine or cutting a two-step, she could be found making a masterpiece in her coloring books or crafting. Some of her other favorite hobbies and interests that she enjoyed were swimming, visiting the library, bowling, shooting pool, and eating at her favorite restaurant, Golden Corral.

Taty was a faithful, devoted, loyal, and loving servant of God. Accepting Christ at an early age, Taty was a long-time member of “The House of the Lord” where she attended services with her mother, Brenda J. Greer (Irvine); and was also a member of Faith Temple Church of God where she attended services with her grandmother, Missionary Dorothy Greer, and aunt, Priscillia French. Taty rarely missed a Sunday service and paid her tithes faithfully. She was a special angel while on this earth, and she will be truly missed.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Brenda J. Greer (Irvine), grandparents (Gladys Ervine, James Ervine, and Thomas E. Greer) an uncle, two aunts and cousins. She leaves the following persons to cherish her memories: Father, Bruce B. Greer (Jeanette Burton); grandmother, Missionary Dorothy Greer; brothers, Marlon Ervine, Joshua Johnson; sisters, Latoshua Greer, Caryn Ervine, Tiffany Burton, Tamika Burton; aunts, Loretta Greer, Vonetta Fleming (Greer), Kaisha Curry (Greer), Priscillia French; uncles, Kenneth Greer, Thomas Greer, Larry Cawthon; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and close friends.
